Before I begin, I decided to choose this one over the 1600 version because I wanted the longevity of 2+ hours at 1000LUM mode. On paper the 1600 although being much brighter on full power offers less than time (1.5hrs) and the alternative of running at a lesser power (800LUM) would seem pointless. Therefore I thought this version was the best compromise, oh and it’s smaller. I mainly got this for road cycling but will occasionally use it off-road depending on British weather. First impressions are good; you are presented with a classy box which slides open to reveal the light. I was very impressed by the quality of the unit out of the box, precision made alloy body all firmly held together. Feels like something worth 4 times as much! The amount of illumination this light gives off in full 1000 Lumens mode is impressive. Plenty to light up close sections of road or forest. I’m yet to try it properly off-road but I’m sure it will perform perfectly. The strobe light mode is mental and must be annoying to other motorists (hehe) but certainly gets you noticed! Having a remote on/off/mode button for me was a must as I frequently feel the need to change modes depending on my situation and with the buttons being relatively stiff to press (which is ok) it would detract from cycling and you need to keep your eyes on the road. The white button on the top used to change modes changes its colour tone to help indicate which mode you are in. You can also use this light as a battery power bank which is very useful if you get stuck somewhere and need to sling some charge in your phone. I can’t validate the figures for lengths of battery service based on the advert depictions I trust that they will be close enough. The only negative thing from me is that there is some small defect in the lens of the light in one corner which looks like a defect during manufacturer. Hopefully Banggood will be able to help me out on this. I hope this review will assist others out there who are trying to decide which cycle lights to choose.
